Even the political panic over data centers is a symptom: the industry is so large and so opaque that leaders reach for a foreign bogeyman rather than confront domestic complexity. For US technology companies and buyers, the era of one-size-fits-all AI infrastructure is ending, replaced by a messier, more deliberate, and more competitive landscape.
