Best Buy is including a $100 gift card for customers who preorder Apple’s new touchscreen MacBook Pro, making it the only retailer among the major outlets offering the laptop with that perk. The offer applies to the 14- and 16-inch configurations of the PROLED XDR model, according to The Verge. It also covers one of the 14-inch MacBook Pro laptops equipped with the M6 chip.
The gift card is added to the cart automatically when a shopper preorders an eligible laptop, so customers do not need a separate code or action to receive it. Buyers can confirm the card is included by checking the “Complete your purchase” section of the checkout page. The new touch-enabled MacBook Pro is available for preorder from a few major retailers, but Best Buy is the only one bundling the gift card.
Apple’s PROLED XDR screen drew praise from The Verge’s Antonio G. Di Benedetto, who examined the laptop at Apple’s event. He was impressed by the Tandem OLED panel’s brightness and contrast. He nonetheless characterized the update as “kind of boring,” citing the relatively small changes to the system otherwise.
The new model includes some changes to macOS intended to make the touch experience smoother. One example is that the traffic light-colored buttons on windows grow larger when a user moves a finger near them. The PROLED laptops are also slightly thinner and lighter than standard models.
The back of the laptop features an Apple logo that glows, as it did on older versions of the machine. The preorder offer is aimed at US shoppers weighing where to place an order for Apple’s highest-end laptop. Best Buy’s bundle adds a $100 gift card to the purchase of an eligible 14- or 16-inch PROLED configuration or the 14-inch M6 model.
The preorder window is open now, and the gift card arrives with the order rather than as a separate step. Customers who want the perk must preorder through Best Buy and can verify the card’s presence at checkout.
