Adobe is partnering with Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group to bring a library of licensed music clips to its Premiere mobile video editing app. The company said the addition will let Premiere mobile users incorporate popular songs from leading artists into their videos and quickly respond to the latest trends. The feature is described as coming soon.

Adobe has not announced which specific musicians will be included in the library through the partnership. The company said only that the catalog will feature popular songs from leading artists. Details on the size of the library and how the clips will be organized were not disclosed.

Bryan Stone of Universal Music Group said in the announcement that bringing licensed music from UMG artists into Adobe Premiere mobile gives creators new ways to build their stories around songs they love for the first time. He also said the arrangement helps the label's artists and songwriters reach new audiences.

The Premiere Pro desktop app and Premiere mobile already include a built-in library of royalty-free music that editors can work into their videos. Licensed audio currently has to be imported manually. The update is intended to make it easier to add recognizable music to video edits.

The move also positions Adobe's mobile video editor against popular rivals such as CapCut. Adobe did not say whether the licensed music updates will also come to Premiere Pro. The company has been asked about that possibility, and the answer will be updated if one is provided.
