Meta said Monday that it is launching Meta Enterprise Platform, a new business effort that will bring the company's artificial intelligence products to corporate customers. To run the initiative, Meta hired Chirantan "CJ" Desai, the chief executive of database software company MongoDB.
The platform extends the reach of Muse, Meta's personal AI assistant introduced earlier this month that can carry out tasks for users including sending emails and booking travel. Meta said the new unit will offer its full technology stack to businesses and developers, including Muse, Meta Business Agent, Muse API, Muse Code and other products.
Desai said in a statement that AI will fundamentally redefine how organizations of all sizes innovate, grow, serve customers and run their operations over the coming years. He said Meta has a unique role to play because it combines advanced models and leading agents with a track record of helping millions of advertisers and hundreds of millions of businesses scale. Meta Enterprise Platform will focus on turning that AI stack into products and services companies can deploy for their own operations, he said.
The enterprise push could help Meta earn a return on the money it is investing in AI. Meta is a major player in the US digital advertising market, and its business customers include advertisers and companies that use its platforms to reach consumers.
MongoDB's shares fell more than 17 percent on news of its CEO's sudden departure. The database maker said it appointed Dev Ittycheria as interim chief executive, a role he previously held, while its board searches for a permanent replacement for Desai.
