Shoppers looking for a pink MacBook have exactly one option in Apple's current lineup. The MacBook Neo, the company's newest laptop, is the only personal computer Apple sells in the rosy color, which the company calls Blush. The shade has drawn widespread attention on social media, particularly among students.

The MacBook Neo's appeal comes with limits. The budget-friendly machine is positioned for casual use and note-taking, and it lacks the performance for creative work at a professional level.

Apple's broader laptop lineup offers little in the way of vivid color. The company retired Rose Gold across its laptops, a finish that some pink enthusiasts considered an imperfect match to begin with, and it has since steered its higher-end models away from bright shades. Buyers who want a MacBook Air can choose a faint blue, while those who want a MacBook Pro are limited to Silver and Space Black.

The contrast is sharper elsewhere in Apple's product range. Two distinct pink shades are offered on the Phone 16 and the 17e, with the 17e's finish more muted than the brighter look on the 16. The latest base-level iPad with A16 comes in a bold pink that is rivaled in intensity only by the same model's vibrant yellow. The M4 iMac is also sold in several eye-catching colors, pink among them.

Move up to devices such as the iPad Pro or the MacBook Pro, however, and the palette narrows to subtle, muted tones alongside the standard grays and silvers. Rose Gold once served as a middle ground of sorts, adding color to iPhones through the mid-2010s and to MacBook Airs that were discontinued in 2019. It also appeared on Apple Watches, a run that ended this year.

The Apple Watch Series 11 was the last model to show off the color, and it is absent from the Series 12 that arrives this year. The closest thing to a colorful option in the new lineup is Night Blue, which is dark, as its name suggests.

There are recent signs of movement on the Pro side of Apple's phone business. The 17 Pro was offered in an uber-saturated orange, while the 18 Pro has rich burgundy and subtle glacier blue options. With a rumored reimagining of the MacBook Pro range on the horizon, the question of whether color returns to Apple's laptops remains open.
