Vivo is bringing its X Fold 6 foldable phone to markets outside China, following the device's launch in China this June. The company has not disclosed pricing or the specific international markets where the phone will go on sale. The global release arrives months after the phone first appeared in China, where it drew little attention as a new design.

That timing has changed how the X Fold 6 reads. When Vivo released the phone in China, it fit alongside other foldables on the market. Since then, Apple and Samsung have shifted toward shorter, wider foldable designs with the iPhone Duo and Z Fold 8, leaving the X Fold 6's tall, nearly square shape looking dated by comparison. The device's dimensions match Vivo's earlier foldables and most foldables that arrived before those two competitors changed direction.

The X Fold 6's cover screen measures 6.51 inches and uses the 20:9 aspect ratio common to standard smartphones. It opens to an 8.02-inch inner display that is close to square. The display crease is fairly visible, placing the phone behind competing foldables on that measure, and its IP59 rating is described as good but not the best available.

Vivo has set the X Fold 6 apart mainly through its camera hardware. The main sensor is a 200-megapixel, 1/1.4-inch-type unit, making it one of the largest on any foldable phone; only Huawei uses a bigger sensor. Vivo pairs it with 50-megapixel telephoto and ultrawide cameras. A 6,900mAh battery powers the device, which runs on a custom "Super Edition" of the MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chip.

Camera performance is the area where the X Fold 6 could separate itself from other foldables, and a full test has not yet been completed. The phone's size and aspect ratio place it in a category that Apple and Samsung have now moved away from. Vivo has not said when it will share pricing or a list of launch countries.
