A new startup is looking to pair two problems in the US auto market: used cars that sit unsold on dealership lots and drivers who need a vehicle for a few months but find few affordable options. MyMonthlyCar, founded by Igor Dobrianskyi and two co-founders, has built an online platform for month-to-month rentals supplied by local dealerships. The company was picked for the 2026 Startup Battlefield 200, a cohort of early-stage startups set to exhibit at TechCrunch Disrupt in San Francisco from October 13 to 15.

Dobrianskyi said millions of used cars sit on lots and lose value, and he pointed to 76,000 dealerships in the United States. He said people who need a car for a few months have limited and expensive choices. MyMonthlyCar only rents used cars on a month-to-month basis, with no short-term options. The service also lets dealerships offer customers a rent-to-own path, so dealers gain not just renters but potential buyers.

MyMonthlyCar is registered in Delaware and based in Florida. Dobrianskyi co-founded it with CPO Kostiantyn Gitko and CTO Vadym Zotov, and all three are from Ukraine. Dobrianskyi said he moved to the US with his wife and young daughter after the Russia-Ukraine war began. The company does not charge dealerships to list cars on its website. Instead it takes 10% of each transaction from dealers and charges customers a separate 10% fee.

The idea grew out of Dobrianskyi's earlier work. He owned a car rental company in Ukraine, where he said a lack of financing options kept him from scaling. In 2016 he launched SizeCar, a peer-to-peer car marketplace where owners rent their cars to other drivers, similar to Turo, and it eventually reached 40 European cities.

MyMonthlyCar has signed seven dealerships to test the service. It is working with an insurance broker to finalize its own insurance program, which would let customers choose among different types of coverage. Dobrianskyi said insurance is the key to the business and that a platform needs its own coverage, noting that dealers' top question was about insurance and liability.

The founders have set bullish targets despite the startup's early stage. They plan to sign 100 dealerships with 2,000 monthly rentals and $300,000 in revenue in the company's first year, which begins later this year once the insurance program launches. Dobrianskyi said the five-year goal is $42 million in revenue.

MyMonthlyCar has not raised venture capital and is bootstrapped. Dobrianskyi said the plan is to raise a seed round, with the money helping hire more developers to build out the platform, including an AI tool to help dealers identify which cars are best to rent out at any given time.
