Salesforce has agreed to buy Rune Technologies, a startup that makes AI software for the U.S. military, for $375 million in cash and stock, according to Resilience Media. Rune's tools are designed to help military users forecast supply requirements and handle logistics in the field. The deal adds battlefield-focused software to Salesforce's national security business.

Rune sits inside Missionforce, the Salesforce unit that serves national security and defense agencies. Salesforce said Missionforce's business has grown 80% year over year since the unit launched last year. The company credited part of that growth to a new 10-year, $5.6 billion contract with the U.S. Army. Salesforce described the contract in a blog post.

Bringing in Rune's frontline logistics data would let Missionforce move past back-office administrative planning and into battlefield operations, according to the company. Rune was founded in 2024 and has raised $30 million in total from investors including Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures and IQT, a CIA-backed nonprofit venture firm formerly known as In-Q-Tel. PitchBook data shows the startup was last valued at $127 million when it raised a Series A led by Human Capital last year.

The Rune deal is the latest in a string of acquisitions by Salesforce this year. The CRM company agreed to buy AI agent platform Fin, formerly Intercom, for $3.6 billion. It also bought Qualified for $1.2 billion. Separately, Salesforce signed an agreement to buy Listen Labs after that startup walked away from a $125 million Series C term sheet at a $1.5 billion valuation.

For Salesforce, the Rune purchase is the company's most direct step into defense technology, a market where the U.S. military is a major buyer of logistics and planning software. Missionforce's growth figures and the Army contract give the unit a foothold with a large federal customer. The deal also puts Salesforce in closer contact with field-level military operations, not just administrative work.

The terms combine cash and stock, and the transaction was reported by Resilience Media. Neither a closing date nor any regulatory review was disclosed in the source article. Rune's prior backing from Andreessen Horowitz, Point72 Ventures and IQT is unaffected as described. Salesforce's earlier deals this year for Fin, Qualified and Listen Labs remain part of the same acquisition streak.
