Apple will bring Apple Intelligence to China through iOS 27.3, the company said on its Chinese newsroom website. The iPhone maker announced the release there, and MacRumors reported the disclosure. The move puts Apple's artificial intelligence tools in front of customers in one of its largest markets, months after the features first shipped elsewhere.

The capabilities will reach users first through an iOS 27.3 beta that Apple plans to launch on November 4th. A full iOS 27.3 release is scheduled for December. Apple Intelligence was approved in China in July, an early signal that the tools were close to arriving. Reuters reported in August that Apple had trained its own large language model specifically for China.

This launch does not include the new Siri AI in China. Instead, Apple is rolling out several of its earlier Apple Intelligence features. Those include notification summaries, real-time translation, rewriting and proofreading tools, visual intelligence, and the ability to remove objects from photos.

Apple also said it worked with Alibaba to add support for its Qwen chatbot in some experiences. The arrangement resembles the integration with OpenAI's ChatGPT that iOS added in 2024. For US readers, the news highlights how Apple is tailoring its AI lineup market by market, pairing its own models with local partners where required.

The Chinese rollout follows a broader expansion of Apple Intelligence since its debut. Apple has positioned the toolset as a core part of its recent iPhone software, and the feature set arriving in China is a subset of what users in other regions have received.

The beta will give developers and public testers in China an early look before the December release. Apple has not said which specific iPhone models in China will support the features. The company's announcement did not address pricing or additional markets.

Apple's reliance on a Chinese partner for chatbot support reflects the varying rules and competitive conditions it faces outside the US. The iOS 27.3 launch keeps the company's AI push moving while the new Siri AI remains absent from the Chinese release.
