Microsoft is holding a Windows and Surface event in San Francisco, where the company is expected to share more details about the Surface Laptop Ultra. The company has also teased what it describes as the latest innovations across Windows, NVIDIA RTX Spark, Surface and the broader PC ecosystem. CEO Satya Nadella and Windows and Devices chief Pavan Davuluri are set to speak, along with NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang.

The presentation is scheduled to begin at 10AM PT, which is 1PM ET, and should run for about an hour. Viewers can watch the livestream on Microsoft's X, Instagram and YouTube channels. More details on the Surface Laptop Ultra and NVIDIA RTX Spark are expected as the event unfolds.

The Surface Laptop Ultra was first shown earlier this year at Microsoft's Build developer conference. It is positioned as the most powerful Surface yet, powered by NVIDIA's RTX Spark superchip. Known specifications include a 15-inch mini LED display that reaches up to 2,000 nits of brightness, the largest trackpad Microsoft has ever made, and a port selection that includes USB C, USB A and a full-sized SD card reader.

Pricing, availability and additional software features are among the items expected to be addressed at the event. Agentic AI capabilities coming to Windows are also anticipated. The stakes for Microsoft are notable given the company's recent history with rolling out AI features to Windows and the trajectory of its Copilot+ PC initiative.

During the presentation, Huang said Windows has been with him for 34 years and predicted it would be with him for 34 more. He also said the Surface RTX devices mark the first time every major computing process can run directly on the device, and that the personal computer has been reinvented completely. Nadella discussed the relevance of file systems and consoles as agents have emerged, and described the idea of Hybrid Intelligence in Windows as substantial. He recalled using a terminal in the late 1980s during graduate school alongside a PC with a modem at home, and said it took the launch of Mosaic, the first browser, for him to have a seamless way to use all the tools he needed.

Nadella said MXC was developed because he realized AI agents had to be contained at the desktop level, and Huang said MXC will change how agents are built and deployed. One question raised during the session was how Windows MXC makes agent use more secure in systems that request full disk access. Davuluri returned to thank the audience and recap the day's news, and the presentation has concluded. Hands-on impressions of the new products, particularly the Surface Laptop Ultra, are expected to follow.
