Remedy Entertainment has released Control Resonant, a sequel to Control that shifts the series in a new direction. The game is available on Steam for Windows, the Epic Games Store, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S and Xbox for PC, with Mac versions coming to Steam and the App Store later this year. It is priced at $60. Remedy is an independent studio, so the title counts as an indie release despite its larger budget and a full-screen homepage ad on its Thursday release date.
The sequel makes Dylan, the brother of original protagonist Jesse Faden, the playable lead. It moves the setting from the shape-shifting Oldest House to an open world and replaces the morphable service weapon with melee combat. Reviews have been generally positive, though some critics found the combat repetitive. Players who want to focus on the story can enable invincibility and one-hit kills.
Free Lives and Devolver Digital launched Stick It to the Stickman out of early access this week on Steam for Windows, Mac and SteamOS/Linux, where it is Steam Deck Verified. Players control Charlie, a pup left home alone, causing carnage and earning badges for mischievous deeds that may include a diamond heist. The unlockable outfits are called "pawjamas," and reviews suggest fans of Untitled Goose Game and Little Kitty Big City will enjoy it.
Sebastian Gioseffi released Video Game Menu: The Game on Steam for Windows and Itch, where it usually costs $4 and is 10 percent off on Steam until September 30. The short title, part of the Out of the Box showcase, parodies the Fake OS genre. Its settings include emotional depth options ranging from "I Just Wanna Kill Some Zombies" to Sophie's Choice, a gore toggle that splashes blood and a random score option.

Several indie events are running or have wrapped. The Game Devs of Color expo showcase featured more than 60 games from around the world. Steam's Mexican Entertainment System event, with more than 300 games from 200-plus Mexican studios, and Serbian Games Week, with more than 200 games, both run until September 28. Day of the Devs has opened submissions for its December 9 showcase, airing a day before The Game Awards, with a September 28 deadline.
