Amazon is selling the last-generation Kindle Paperwhite Signature Edition for $169.99, down from its original price of $249.99, a discount of roughly 30 percent. The deal was reported on October 6, 2026. The Signature Edition at that price includes no lockscreen ads, 32GB of storage, wireless charging, and an ambient light sensor.

The older Paperwhite retains much of what made it popular. It has a 300ppi screen, an auto-adjusting front light, and a waterproof design rated IPX8. The standard last-gen Paperwhite is also discounted, priced at $149.99, down from $199.99.

Buyers considering the cheaper standard model should note what it lacks compared with the Signature Edition. It ships with half the storage of the Signature Edition, does not support wireless charging, and displays lockscreen ads.

The current-generation Paperwhite offers some improvements over the discounted model. According to the report, the newer version opens books 30 percent faster, a measure distinct from page-turning speed, and its aluminum design is one millimeter thinner. It costs $50 more than the last-gen model.

The price gap is the central trade-off for shoppers this October Prime Day period. The last-gen Signature Edition carries the same design and performance as the standard last-gen Paperwhite but adds more storage and wireless charging support. Amazon is the retailer offering these prices.
