That single image does more analytical work than a spec sheet. The bottleneck was not demand in the abstract; it was the mismatch between a launch-day allocation model built for carrier stores and retail floors, and a fulfilment model built for app-based, hyper-local delivery.
For US technology companies, India is not a side market. It is one of the few large markets where premium flagship demand is still expanding, and it is a market where the purchasing interface is increasingly the phone itself. A vendor that cannot feed a quick-commerce channel at launch hands the first weeks of a product cycle to whoever can. US firms watching this should read it as a channel-design problem rather than a demand problem, and as evidence that launch logistics have become part of the product experience in markets outside the United States.
The Subscription Creep in Software Ownership

US consumers have spent a decade being told that a phone purchase is one transaction. In practice it is a bundle: device, operating system, app store, and a default storage provider. When the storage provider changes, the bundle changes. The practical questions for a US buyer are unglamorous but real: what happens to photos and video already stored, how long the old service remains readable, and whether the new destination carries the same capacity terms.
