Apple's first foldable, the iPhone Duo, arrives into a category Android makers have occupied for years, and shoppers comparing the two camps have no exact Android equivalent to point to. Samsung, Google and Motorola each sell a book-style foldable that opens into a small tablet, the same format as the Duo. The devices differ from Apple's on size, cameras, durability, battery and price, so the closest match depends on which specification matters most.
The Duo sits mid-pack on screens, with a 5.4-inch outer display and a 7.6-inch inner one. Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 8 is the nearest match at 7.6 inches inside and 5.5 inches outside. Google's Pixel 11 Pro Fold is larger at 8 inches inside and 6.5 inches outside, and Motorola's Razr Fold is the biggest of the group with a 6.6-inch cover screen and a nearly 8.1-inch inner display.
All three Android phones weigh less than the Duo, which comes in at 9 ounces. The Z Fold 8 is 7.09 ounces, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold is 8.4 ounces and the Razr Fold is 8.6 ounces. On cameras, the Duo carries a 12-megapixel Center Stage front camera and two 48MP rear cameras. The Z Fold 8 edges it with two 50MP rear cameras and a 10MP front camera, while the Pixel 11 Pro Fold matches the 48MP main sensor but adds a 10.8MP telephoto lens the Duo lacks. The Razr Fold leads on megapixel count with 50MP main, ultrawide and telephoto cameras plus a 20MP cover selfie camera.
Durability separates the group. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold is the only one of the three to match Apple's IP68 dust and water resistance rating. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 is rated IP48, and the Razr Fold carries an IP48/IP49 rating.
Battery comparisons are limited because Apple has not disclosed the Duo's capacity, saying only that it lasts up to 24 hours of mixed use. The Pixel 11 Pro Fold has a 4,806mAh battery and the Galaxy Z Fold 8 a 4,800mAh unit. Motorola says the Razr Fold's 6,000mAh battery is the largest available in a foldable.
Pricing is tighter than the formats might suggest. The Duo starts at $1,999.99 for 256GB, while the Galaxy Z Fold 8 at 256GB, the Pixel 11 Pro Fold at 256GB and the Razr Fold at 512GB all start at $1,899.99. Google and Samsung both offer a 1TB configuration, though neither matches the Duo's 2TB option.
For US buyers, the Galaxy Z Fold 8 comes closest at first glance, with its 7.6-inch display, two 50MP rear sensors and slightly less sharp selfie camera. Xiaomi's 18 Fold, unveiled days before the Duo as the brand's first mid-size foldable, measures 7.68 inches unfolded with a 5.38-inch outer screen, close to both. It is not sold in the US.
