Meta released its Muse app for Mac on September 18, 2026, bringing its consumer-facing AI agent to Apple's desktop platform. Muse arrives amid rising competition among consumer-facing AI agents, which many in the industry view as the future of computing. The focus now is on which company can win the most consumer market share in the category, and how fast. Muse and Instinct have both rushed out new features at a rapid pace, and both rolled out voice calling in the same week as Muse's Mac launch.
