Apple has released new iPhones, the latest hardware refresh from the company. The launch arrives during a busy stretch for consumer technology announcements. Updated AirPods were also introduced alongside the phones, according to The Verge's Installer newsletter, published September 13, 2026. The newsletter did not detail pricing, specifications, or a release date for any of the devices.
The same newsletter, Installer No. 143, also flagged a new Meta AI agent and revived Sony headphones. It described "new tech season" as underway. Verge senior reporter Jay Peters wrote the edition after returning from a week off, and said he had been watching iPhone Duo videos and reading about the Tiny Awards, which honor websites.
The Installer edition featured Verge news writer Emma Roth, who shared her phone homescreen. Her wallpaper is a photo she took at a local inlet known for pelican watching. Her main screen holds Google Messages, Microsoft Edge, Samsung Mail, her Phone app, and shortcuts to the Google Play Store and her Camera. She noted the order disappears in her app drawer, where the first page mixes Reddit, Slack and Sam's Club.
Roth said she could not remember the last time she opened an app in her Samsung folder or launched Phone from that screen instead of her dock. The newsletter also collected reader recommendations. One reader praised the newest season of Adults on Hulu and FX; another pointed to an IKEA Skyrim mod featuring Matt Berry as a voice for a KALLAX shelf.
