Google

Google is an American technology company founded in 1998 at Stanford University, and since a 2015 reorganisation it has operated as the main subsidiary of the holding company Alphabet.

It runs the world's most used search engine and, alongside it, Android, Chrome, YouTube, Gmail, Google Maps and Google Cloud. Its AI work sits under Google DeepMind, whose Gemini model family now feeds Search, Workspace and Android.

Google appears on this desk in almost every category at once: AI models, mobile platforms, cloud infrastructure, browser standards and a long-running set of antitrust cases on both sides of the Atlantic.
