Microsoft is celebrating nearly 25 years since the original Xbox console launched, and the company has revealed a range of new hardware accessories from multiple manufacturers to mark the occasion. Most of the peripherals share a translucent green design, which has become a reference point for the original console, even though that system actually launched in black with a green circle in its center, with the translucent look coming later. The new items are available to preorder now through the Xbox store or directly from the manufacturers.
Razer is among the manufacturers participating, offering new versions of its Basilisk V3 Pro 35K mouse and BlackWidow V4 75% keyboard in the translucent green style. These are reskins, meaning the internal hardware and performance remain unchanged, which is notable because the Basilisk V3 has been recognized as a top gaming mouse, and the BlackWidow V4 75% is a well-regarded mechanical keyboard. Razer is also applying the green treatment to its Hammerhead V3 X Hyperspeed earbuds, which are designed for quickly switching between audio sources using the company鈥檚 proprietary HyperSpeed 2.4GHz streaming platform.
Two other accessory makers are joining in with green products. 8BitDo has introduced a charging dock that works with Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One controllers. GameSir has redesigned its X5 Lite mobile controller in translucent green, and that device is compatible with both iOS and Android phones.
Not everything in the lineup is green, though. The Backbone Pro Xbox 25th Anniversary Edition is a mobile game controller offered in three colorways, but there is no way for buyers to choose which color they receive, as it is sold as a mystery box. The PowerA Xbox Sling Bag, despite its name, is not for carrying consoles or standard controllers; it is made for Xbox-branded Ally and Ally X handheld devices. That bag is jet black with minor green accents, making it the only accessory in the group that actually resembles the look of the 2001 Xbox.
Microsoft is not stopping at peripherals for the birthday celebration. The company has also announced a translucent green Xbox Series X console that is scheduled to launch in November. The full range of accessories, including the green items and the non-green controllers and bag, are all available for preorder at this time.
