Amazon's Kindle lineup now spans reading-focused tablets, note-taking devices, and color-screen models, and the company has raised prices across several of them. The Kindle Paperwhite and Paperwhite Signature Edition, both 12th-generation devices that launched in late 2024, remain Amazon's most popular Kindles and the top overall pick for readers. The Paperwhite carries a price of $200 after a $40 increase, while the Signature Edition rose from $200 to $250. Amazon has said new versions of both models are coming at the same prices.

The Paperwhite offers a seven-inch, high-resolution display, auto-adjusting warm light, and a three-month battery, which is the longest battery life Kindle offers outside the Scribe models. Amazon calls it an upgrade over the previous generation, with a slightly larger screen, the highest contrast ratio of any Kindle, and battery life that increased from two months to three months. The Signature Edition adds auto-adjust brightness, wireless charging, and 32 GB of storage, double the standard model.

For students and note-takers, the second-generation Kindle Scribe from 2024 is priced at $400 for a 16 GB model. It has a 10.2-inch, 300 ppi paperlike display, a white border that gives it a notebook-style look, and an included Premium Pen with a soft-tipped eraser. Battery life runs 12 weeks. Its software includes Active Canvas, which lets users write notes that appear on the page like a Post-It note, and Expandable Margins for writing in the side panel of books.

Amazon's color Kindle options include the base Kindle Colorsoft at $290 and the Kindle Colorsoft Signature Edition, which launched in 2024 as Amazon's first model with a color screen. Both have a seven-inch display with an oxide backplane. The Signature Edition doubles storage to 32 GB, adds wireless charging and an auto-adjusting front light, and costs $30 more, though it is currently unavailable. Amazon raised prices on both by $40, and new versions are coming at the same prices.

The Kindle Colorsoft Kids, priced at $300, is the lineup's option for young readers. Color pages extend to the bookshelf, the titles available through Kids+, and illustrated books, and Kids mode can be turned on on any Kindle.
