Vivo’s new X Fold 6 foldable phone includes a blue design with a frosted glass back, a feature that stands out after several days of use. The device also offers solid camera performance and very good battery life.
The X Fold 6 is not officially sold in the US or the UK. Buyers can import it from resellers in China or the parts of Europe where it is sold, but doing so leaves them without customer support if something goes wrong.
The phone uses a book-style foldable format, similar to the Oppo Find N6 and Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra. Apple’s iPhone Duo has launched with stumpy passport dimensions, and Samsung’s Z Fold 8 and Xiaomi’s 18 Fold, seen at IFA 2026, share those proportions. That wider shape is becoming fashionable because its internal dimensions are better for watching videos than the square-format inner screens on the X Fold 6 and others.
The traditional format still has merits, and Vivo’s model is a good example. It feels sturdy and, while not as skinny when closed as Samsung’s Z Fold 8 Ultra or Oppo’s Find N6, it slides into a pocket without much issue. It runs last year’s MediaTek Dimensity 9500 processor, which produced decent benchmark scores, and gaming and multitasking were no problem.
The rear cameras take great-looking shots, helped by a 200 megapixel sensor with high quality Zeiss glass in front of it. Vivo watermarks are on by default and had to be cropped out of examples before being turned off in settings. The main, ultrawide and telephoto cameras take good photos. At longer focal lengths the camera relies heavily on AI-based image processing, so fine details look more like watercolor paintings, which is common among phones. Overall the cameras do a solid job, especially for a foldable, which typically has watered-down versions of regular phone camera setups.
Battery life is where the phone appears to shine. After an hour of streaming YouTube on its massive inner screen at max brightness, it had not dropped a single percent, and after the second hour it was at 94%. That is up there with the best tested this year, including the iPhone 18 Pro. A full day of mixed use should be no problem, and most of the way into a second day is likely with care. Its 80-watt wired charging goes from empty to full in around 30 minutes with a compatible charger.
The X Fold 6 is not the slimmest, the most powerful, or the foldable with the least visible crease, but it ticks every box expected from a high-end device. The real shame is that almost no one reading about it will be able to buy it.
