More than 200 packages of graded Pokémon and sports cards worth over $963,000 were stolen from a FedEx delivery truck parked outside PSA’s headquarters, according to a statement from Collectors Holdings, the parent company of the card-grading service.
Collectors Holdings confirmed the theft on its website and said it is cooperating closely with local law enforcement and FedEx as the investigation proceeds. The company said it has alerted its marketplace partners so they can watch for rare and serialized items, an effort aimed at keeping the stolen cards from being resold. Every card graded by PSA carries a unique certification number, and the company said it has deactivated those numbers for all the stolen cards identified so far.
Collectors Holdings also said it has reached out to affected customers to arrange compensation based on the fair market value of their missing collectibles. Payouts are capped at the maximum insured value each customer selected for an item before it was graded, according to the report.
One victim, the YouTuber Sky-B Cards, identified themselves in a video posted over the weekend and shared the response PSA sent them. Sky-B Cards said they had paid $8,468 to have 104 collectible sports cards graded, many of which are irreplaceable, and had insured the order for up to $156,000. What compensation they have received is not yet known.
Other collectors affected by the theft have begun contacting the YouTuber Boston Card Hunter, who is assembling a shared list of the stolen serialized cards. The list includes detailed descriptions of each card in hopes that other collectors can use it to identify them.
The incident puts a spotlight on the growing U.S. market for graded collectibles, where PSA certification numbers serve as a key record of authenticity for buyers. The theft involves both Pokémon and sports cards, two categories that have drawn heavy collector spending.
