Of course Samsung made a 1,100Hz gaming monitor

Samsung announced its upcoming lineup of Odyssey gaming monitors at Gamescom, revealing several models it says feature world-first innovations in display speeds and design. The company showed a faster version of its 27-inch Odyssey G6, which now has a 1,100Hz refresh rate, along with new OLED variants of the Odyssey G9, G8, and G7 slated for 2027. These products target the competitive gaming market in the US, where high-refresh-rate displays are a key selling point for PC enthusiasts.

The Odyssey G6 G60H’s final launch specification is 1,100Hz, a 60Hz increase over the 1,040Hz refresh rate Samsung announced for the monitor at CES 2026. Aside from that change, the G6 remains a dual-mode gaming monitor with an IPS-based display and a 1ms response time. The ultra-fast refresh rate is only achievable at 1080p resolution, while the native 1440p mode still delivers 600Hz. Samsung has not announced a price or launch date for the G6 but says it will be available globally by the end of 2026.

Samsung also introduced the Odyssey OLED G9, which it calls the world’s first 49-inch DQHD gaming monitor with a 360Hz refresh rate. The previous model topped out at 240Hz, but the new ultra-wide offers two modes: 360Hz at 5120 x 1440, or 720Hz when switched to the 2560 x 720 dual HD setting. Other specs include a 0.03ms response time and peak brightness of up to 1,300 nits.

Two additional OLED models were announced alongside the G9. The 32-inch Odyssey OLED G8 lets users switch between UHD at 360Hz, QHD at 520Hz, and FHD at 680Hz. The Odyssey OLED G7 is described by Samsung as the world’s first 42-inch 16:9 curved OLED gaming monitor, featuring 4K resolution, a 165Hz refresh rate, and 1000R curvature, making it larger than the previous 32-inch G7 model.

Samsung has not yet announced prices or launch dates for the 2027 Odyssey lineup, with the company saying availability will vary by market. The refresh rate race among monitor makers has drawn attention, with LG’s 1,000Hz UltraGear gaming monitor expected to ship in September, though Samsung’s G6 now exceeds that figure. The practical benefits of such high refresh rates remain a topic of debate among gamers and reviewers, but Samsung appears to be pushing the specification ceiling forward with these new models.
