Elgato is entering the wireless microphone market with the Wave Go, a $99.99 clip-on device aimed at mobile creators. The company, known for hardware built for desktop-based content creators, is positioning its first wireless mic against DJI's Mic Mini. The Wave Go is available starting today and is priced at $99.99 in the US, with matching prices of €99.99 and £99.99 in Europe.
The microphone weighs seven grams and is roughly the size of an AirPod, allowing it to stay out of view on camera. Elgato says it delivers broadcast-quality audio through a condenser capsule that supports EQ shift, auto gain, and noise cancellation. A magnetic clip and plate attach it to clothing, and a single button handles power and mute functions. Double-pressing that button launches the camera app on a paired phone.
Elgato is also selling a Smart Handle accessory that converts the Wave Go into a full-size interview microphone. The mic slots into the top of the handle, which carries its own power and mute button along with an LED indicator for power, mute, and pairing status. The handle doubles as a charger, holding five additional charges on top of the mic's roughly eight hours per charge, for a total of 48 hours. A 10-minute quick charge provides about an hour of recording time.
The included USB-C receiver is designed for phones and works with iPhones, Android devices, and iPads. It links to the microphone over a 2.4GHz wireless signal rather than Bluetooth, with latency of around 24ms or less. All three components fit inside the included case, though that case lacks an integrated battery, leaving the Smart Handle as the primary on-the-go charging option.
A companion Wave Go mobile app lets users monitor live audio levels, turn noise reduction on or off, toggle automatic leveling, and check battery status. The microphone also works with desktop PCs through Elgato's Wave Link 3.0 software when the receiver is plugged into a USB-C port. A second mic transmitter is available for $29.99 for creators who want to record a second voice.
