CD Projekt Red is rolling out a major 2.5 update for Cyberpunk 2077 that adds cross-platform mod support to consoles alongside content tied to the new season of the Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime on Netflix. The patch reaches PC, Mac, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S on October 22nd, with Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mac App Store to follow in the days after, according to the company's patch notes.

The mod feature, powered by mod.io, lets players browse and install a selection of player-created mods directly from the in-game menu. CD Projekt Red describes it as a first step into cross-platform modding and says more mods will become available over time. Support covers PC, Mac, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch 2.

The Edgerunners-themed additions include a new side quest, a gear set modeled on the character Weak Kingsley and a radio station carrying music from the anime. Players also get a Double Trouble perk that enables dual-wielding of pistols and revolvers, a Richard Night-guided city tour side quest and access to the player-made mods through the in-game menu.

Beyond those headline items, the update introduces grouped saves sorted by playthrough, DLSS 4.5 support, glasses-free 3D effects and a field-of-view slider for console players. The patch notes do not specify which mods will be offered at launch.

The mod support arrives as Cyberpunk 2077 approaches six years past an initially troubled launch, and it could extend the game's lifespan even without a multiplayer mode, which the title does not have. The update lands alongside the second season of the Edgerunners anime.

CD Projekt Red has framed the console mod rollout as an ongoing effort rather than a one-time addition, with the catalog of available mods set to grow after release. The company has not said how many mods will be included initially or which creators' work will be featured.
