Corridor, an AI-powered health benefits brokerage aimed at small businesses, said Monday it has raised a $25 million seed round led by Bain Capital Ventures. The company is betting that artificial intelligence can make serving small accounts viable for a brokerage, a segment it says traditional firms often neglect because small clients generate lower commissions while demanding the same time and effort as larger ones.

On Corridor's platform, customers work with human advisors while AI agents handle administrative work in the background. According to the company, those agents can check whether a doctor is in a customer's insurance network, schedule care, and give a doctor updated health insurance information. CEO Nikhil Aggarwal described the company as a concierge for every employee and management team across all things healthcare.

The startup traces its origins to co-founder Jackson Wagner, who left his role as a product lead at Scale AI in July 2022. A running accident led to care that was handled poorly, he said, and left him dealing with significant, consistent, chronic pain. Wagner said he developed a long list of complications that had to be worked through one at a time.

Wagner later earned a master's degree in computer science and electrical engineering at UC Berkeley, then joined Build Robotics in 2023. He subsequently teamed with former Scale AI colleague Eric Qian on Capernaum AI, a startup building a clinical agent focused on musculoskeletal care and chronic pain. When the two approached Cold Start for funding, Aggarwal, a partner there alongside Jason Dong, saw a larger opportunity, and the four launched Corridor together.

Wagner said that because health plans are the primary way most Americans access healthcare, creating a path to better health plans stood out as one of the highest-impact ways to improve outcomes for individuals. Aggarwal said Corridor's vision is to become the most trusted healthcare institution in America, and that earning that trust means doing what the company says it will do for the businesses and employees it serves.

Other companies operating in the space include Ignition Benefits and Nava Benefits. Investors in Corridor's round include BoxGroup, along with executives from OpenAI, Scale AI and Ramp. With 80% of small businesses choosing their health plan in the fourth quarter, according to Aggarwal, the startup is preparing for that period.
