Axonius Inc. has added Axonius AI Workforce to its Asset Cloud platform, giving security teams autonomous, artificial intelligence-powered virtual workers that can take on ongoing remediation tasks. The company said the feature is generally available to Axonius customers now.

AI Workforce is designed to handle follow-up work that security teams seldom have time for. Axonius said much of that work exists because asset data is spread across dozens of tools, and the scheduled jobs most teams depend on only catch conditions someone defined in advance. Anything outside those rules is left for a person to resolve, including determining why a single endpoint agent stopped reporting.

The virtual workers come in more than 50 types, addressing security outcomes such as exposure triage, shadow AI and readiness for post-quantum cryptography. Each worker tracks a metric tied to its outcome, which Axonius said spares teams from building custom reports to check whether anything is improving. When an asset drifts from its intended state, the responsible worker performs the fix, and the results feed a Daily Digest that Axonius ranks by urgency.

A mode setting determines how far a worker acts on its own, and Axonius recommends a starting mode for each job based on its own best practices. In Off mode, the worker waits for approval on everything. Shadow mode lets teams preview what a worker would do before switching to Live, where it acts automatically within set guardrails. Outbound messages and changes to connected systems are treated as sensitive and held for approval before they execute. Each customer also runs a private large language model instance in its own dedicated environment, and an audit trail marks every action as agent-driven or human-driven.

Two tools Axonius announced in July also reached general availability today. The Axonius AI Companion accepts plain-language questions about a customer's environment and can act on the answer in the same conversation, opening a ticket or tagging devices when asked. Outside AI tools and agents reach the same asset data through the Axonius MCP Server, which runs over the Model Context Protocol.

Moshe Ben Simon, chief product officer at Axonius, said every vendor is now shipping AI agents and that the unanswered question is what those agents are acting on. An agent acting on one vendor's incomplete view of an asset will be wrong, he said. Axonius said it built its platform on more than 1,400 bidirectional integrations, and Ben Simon described AI Workforce as what can safely be built on top of it. The company made a similar data-quality argument in April with Axonius Verified Assets, which rested on the premise that AI agents act on their inputs without questioning them.

AI Workforce, the AI Companion and the MCP Server all run on the same asset model that powers Asset Cloud, which Axonius builds by reconciling and deduplicating data across more than 80 asset and exposure entity types. The software is designed to state when it cannot verify something. Theresa Lanowitz, principal analyst for cybersecurity at Omdia, said the launch stands out for tying autonomous remediation directly to a verified view of the environment, and she expects that pairing, along with human oversight where it matters, to distinguish AI that security teams can trust from tools that only add noise. Security engineering teams can see how many AI credits their users and the virtual workers spend, and what that costs.
