Apple has sent invitations for a second product launch this month, scheduling the event for October 28th at 1PM ET in Los Angeles. The company is expected to use the showcase to announce new Macs and a refreshed iPad Mini, according to Bloomberg. The event follows Apple's smart home-focused "Welcome home" launch on October 13th.
The centerpiece is expected to be a new MacBook Pro featuring an OLED touchscreen, a lighter design and an iPhone-like Dynamic Island. Apple also plans to reveal a 14-inch MacBook Pro and a new iMac built with the M6 chip, which was recently introduced with the Mac Mini, according to Bloomberg. The updated iPad Mini will apparently finally get an OLED screen as well and move the selfie camera to the landscape edge.
Apple's SVP of Marketing Greg Joswiak teased the event on X, saying he could not wait to "pro and tell" next week. The company has not publicly detailed the products beyond that teaser.
The October 28th event comes after Apple's October 13th "Welcome home" presentation, which included the new HomeView smart home hub, an updated Apple TV 4K and Siri Remote, and a second-generation HomePod Mini. That launch focused on the company's smart home lineup rather than its computers.
For US buyers, the event is set to refresh several of Apple's most closely watched product lines, including the MacBook Pro and the iPad Mini, ahead of the holiday shopping season. The M6 chip's appearance in the Mac Mini gives consumers an early look at the processor before it reaches the iMac and MacBook Pro.
Apple has not said whether the event will be streamed or held in person for press and guests. The company also has not confirmed pricing or availability for any of the expected products.
