Apple has invited press and influencers to a product event in Los Angeles on October 28, the company's third showcase of the season. The company is calling the gathering "Pro and Tell," according to the invite. The event follows a smart home-focused showcase that Apple held earlier.
The October 28 event is said to be an all-day affair, and expectations point toward the Mac and iPad as its focus. Bloomberg's Mark Gurman reiterated previous reporting that Apple will unveil touchscreen MacBooks, additional M6-powered Macs and an iPad mini with an OLED display at the showcase.
The touchscreen MacBooks are reported to carry M5 Pro and Max chipsets and to be offered in 14-inch and 16-inch formats. They are said to be significantly lighter than current Pro models and to include OLED displays. Those details have circulated ahead of the event rather than being confirmed by Apple.
Apple is also expected to refresh the 14-inch MacBook Pro and the iMac. Those machines are slated to run on the M6 chip, which debuted in August in the latest Mac mini. The event would mark the third time this season that Apple has convened press for new devices.
For US buyers, the Los Angeles event gives Apple a domestic stage to detail the next round of Mac and iPad hardware. The invite names only the event and its date; Apple has not publicly confirmed the products expected to appear. The company has also not indicated whether the showcase will be streamed beyond the invited audience.
