A new leak suggests LG’s rumored Apple Home accessories could offer a quick way to pull up device controls on an iPhone. According to a post on X from the account “pdfu,” the accessories may include an NFC-based “Proximity Control” feature. Holding an iPhone near a device would surface a hint for that device’s controls in the Dynamic Island, the post claims.

The same post says the feature is executed using the Matter protocol but appears to be specific to Apple Home. The account “pdfu” has previously posted leaks and renders of suspected Apple features and LG smart home gear. The new claim follows a separate leak from yesterday showing a “tap to setup without power” pairing feature and other upcoming devices.

There is some corroboration for the idea of smart home controls in the Dynamic Island. MacRumors’ Aaron Perris spotted HomeKit code in an iOS 27.2 beta that hinted at those controls. The “pdfu” post claims the tap-to-control feature has appeared in code since iOS 27.0. Neither detail has been confirmed by Apple or LG.

Apple has a “Welcome home” event planned for October 13th. At that event, the company could share more about plans such as a new smart home hub device with a display, an updated HomePod Mini, and a new Apple TV. Those products have not been announced.

The leak points to a deepening tie between Apple’s HomeKit ecosystem and LG hardware. For US consumers, the reported feature would mean fewer steps to reach a device’s controls, with an iPhone serving as the trigger. It would also lean on Matter, the cross-company smart home standard, while remaining an Apple Home-specific experience.

Apple and LG have not commented on the rumored accessories or the Proximity Control feature. The October 13th event is the next scheduled opportunity for Apple to address its smart home plans. Until then, the reported tap-to-control capability remains unconfirmed.
